Blog status update [Blog Special]

First off, a small celebration is in order on the success of the blog so far.
The 20.000 mark was reached earlier tonight on my Unique Visitor counter, I’m quite amazed but also very happy. This means roughly 5000 unique visitors a day for the past 4 months since I fired up the unique visitor stat counter. I’ve compiled something a picture with the “Top ranking” stats for those that are interested in statistics as much as I am.

Things that should be said to make it easier to understand all features listed here:

The Unique visitor counter only counts 1 IP address entering the blog once per hour or more.

The flag counter only ever counts any IP number once, no matter how many times you enter the blog. So this counter tracks individual IP numbers more than anything else among my stat counters.

The all time Pageview is the Blogger default stat counter checking each single visit to the blog from when this blog started 4 months ago.

Flag counter stats, the blog has been visited by people from 60 countries. And I actually kept track of the United States in particular since this was the only country where I could see the number of visitors from each state as well. Happy to say that all 50 states have checked out my blog, it looked as if there were no hobby interested people in Alaska for a long time but got a visitor from Alaska just a week ago.

The top 5 blog entries by amount of visitors are listed in the picture, the top 10 list of all time looks like this:

1) French & Indian War - thoughts about historical wargaming    - 2,366 Pageviews !
2) Polish Legions at battle of Leipzig 1813 [Diorama]      567 Pageviews

Moving on to blog content matters.

I’m happy that I’ve still managed to keep the blog going with an entry each and every day. Don’t know if this is important to you – but I feel that it lends “stability” and routine for the blog.

I’ve discussed the matter of boardgame reviews with my main “boardgame sponsor” GameManiacs and we both agree on that it might be a better idea to spread out the reviews for a couple of reasons. First of all, in the long run it will be impossible to provide 1 boardgame review per week and good titles will run short before the year is out. Second reason is that I will be able to make those reviews better, deeper and analyze each title even better if I can break down the reviews even further. Especially more complex games would benefit greatly from this.

Another thing coming up is a “Christmas special” with GameManiacs, this is in particular aimed at the Swedish audience. I cannot give away the details just yet, but keep your eyes out for this Christmas Special at the beginning of December –  it might solve your troubles finding a good Christmas present this year.
