Last pair of models for my Malifaux Resurrectionist crew, at least for now.
3rd Rotten Belle and Madame Sybelle. Sybelle looks more like the Madame of a brothel - than the original model who looks like a bald obese S&M sadist. Granted the model I use is not very exciting, though I will probably not use Sybelle very often, but I find the original to be disgusting in a bad/uncool way. Painted her up more to try out the rules and have a complete "faction" than anything else.
I also repainted Seamus the Mad Hatter, as you can see from the before/after picture comparison the new look has stronger colors and more contrast. Pants painted like the Copycat Killer shorts. Originally my first Seamus paintjob came out OK but the Matt Varnish back then killed all the colors leaving the model looking very flat and boring. At least now he has a more flamboyant look about himself as was intended from the start.
Also made some tochups on my Bete Noire model, this is a heavily greenstuffed West Wind nun. I'm perfectly happy with the look, but I just can’t get a satisfying paintjob on this model. I want her to be very dark but just as with Seamus my first paintjob was partly ruined by bad Army Painter matt varnish. The dark blue highlights almost wiped out by it. So I repainted the highlights in purple instead, at least now you can see the outlines of the model. I'm happy with the skin and the glowing eye, but I think I'll need to do something about the hair at another painting session or this model will bother me every time I look at it. Probably just needs better contrast on the colors of her hair, I just couldn't think of something to do yesterday when I was painting the last "Belles".
I hope to play two games of Malifaux this afternoon.
I will give priority to Seamus gang first, and then play with Nicodem the undertaker. Here's what I'm going to use.
.........................................................................................................
Seamus
Copycat Killer 2 Soul Stones
Sybelle 6SS
Rotten Belle #1 4SS
Rotten Belle #2 4SS
Bete Noire 9SS
Sebastian 6SS
Canine Remains 2SS
(33SS, gives me 2 SS to spare and add to Seamus soul stone cache)
.........................................................................................................
Nicodem
Grave Spirit 1SS
Punk Zombie #1 5SS
Punk Zombie #2 5SS
Rotten Belle 4SS
Nurse 5SS
Convict Gunslinger (mercenary) 6SS
Mortimer the gravedigger (OK I hope to use this model to create corpses for Nicodem to turn into Punk zombies, rotten belles and Flesh Golem - will it work and be worth it? I'm not sure).
(33SS, again gives me 2SS to spare and add to Nicodems soul stone cache)

The upcoming news - I've been waiting to hear more about that for ages :-)
ReplyDeleteWell I've got some very nice stuff that I received by email from West Wind and the permission to share it. As well as a few of my general questions answered to give a rough idea of what the "new thing" will be all about :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Anatoli, great post! Thought you'd like to know that you've been picked in our "blog spotlight" on the News From the Front Podcast:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.whatwouldpattondo.net/2011/02/wwpd-news-from-front-episode-13.html
Always nice to see that there are more players of Malifaux here in sweden.
ReplyDeleteAnd not to far off either ;)
Read your latest posts and your complaints about Mortimer, you playing his errata Exhume where you can cheat even the flip for a counter? Great way to use those 1-4 of Ravens in your hand
@Indierockclimber that was super cool!
ReplyDeleteLeft a comment on your guys blog :-D
@Algard, yeah I know - sadly even then I did not have much luck since my control hand is often made up of high end good cards. Even if I had a raven (which I did at one point) it was a 13 and I needed it for other stuff, and towards the end I used my high end cards to simply summon stuff with him rather than dig around in the dirt :-/
Yesterdays game game me a few ideas for the upcoming Malifaux guide/review as well as a blog entry about that which I dislike the most "Luck/Bad Luck" factors in games.
But at the same time I think the game has improved a LOT with the new stretegy/schemes that came with Rising Powers. We played mostly new stuff by chance yesterday and it was refreshing and all the new missions just feels so much better than the core one.
Yeah i know what you mean with having to use Mortimers Exhume cards for so much else in a Ressurectionist gang.
ReplyDeleteThe best i see him as is a situational model depending on what you meet, my group is Heavy on Corpse removal (Gaki, Lady J, Pigs etc) so many times when i field my Seamus crew and the belles start going down in numbers i really wish i had him to grab up a quick counter that wont be devoured the next second before i can bring back some belles.
On the other hand i am more in favor for a Hanged in any Seamus crew, Terror tests aplenty :D
